Winter Greens

Winter Greens are at their best right now!

If you haven't tried the hearty cool-weather greens that we grow yet, maybe you should give them a try. They are always better after the first frost, and that came early this year, so we have been enjoying them ever since!

Here's Jenna, our much-loved Collard Queen with a great looking harvest straight from our own fields. We also grow other seasonal specialties, such as purple-top turnips, mustard greens, broccoli and broccoli rabe.

Pretty Pumpkins All In A Row!

Come and get yours!

We love decorating with all our colorful pumpkins at this time of the year. If you're up for making pie, we have pumpkins for pie too.

If you're not making your own, but don't want anyone to know, pick up one of our made-from-scratch pies in our store - we won't tell and they are so much better than the average pie, because they are made by just one person - just for us!!

Dear All,
I can't thank you all enough for supporting your local farms and artisan food producers by shopping each week at the market. It has been a very tough year for the whole country with the economy, but the weather we've had in the Northeast has just added insult to injury, especially to growers! So thank-you again, for coming out rain or shine (or cloudy!) to buy good, local food from people you've got to know and trust.

This lovely photo of some of our seasonal fresh vegetables was taken on the set of Channel 8's "Connecticut Style" last week. Check back later for the recipes!

Here's who will be at the farmers' market this week, Wednesday, 3:30pm - 7pm rain or shine:

Gambardella Fresh Fish
Wave Hill Bread
Cheesecake to a T
Snooty Foods - gourmet dips, spreads, pickles
Cato Corners homestead cheeses (cheeses made with milk from their own herd of Jersey cows)
Kathy's Cookies
Rose's Berry Farms - berries, produce
Beltane Farm Goat Cheese
Pizza on the Grill (made to order)
Three Sisters Farms - honey, beeswax candles, lipbalms and other specialties (will be back on Aug. 26th)
Hidden Brook Gardens - certified organic produce
Chaplin Farms - produce and fruit
Roby's Organic - garlic, specialty potatoes, produce
Tails Will Wag - handmade dog treats
Lemonade Ladies - fresh squeezed lemonade
Farm to Hearth pizza in the beehive oven will be back next week and every other week.

Music will be provided by volunteer acoustic duo Chris and Howie, who will be playing favorites from the 70's, 80's and more!! Thanks guys!

Woodmont Farmers' Market August 5th

video
The Watutsi Kings entertained all the farmers' market shoppers with some great music. Singing sisters Juliana and Claire joined in the fun with this little ditty.......

Yet again, the weather co-operated and kept away the wet stuff, but boy it was hot! Some if us walked down to the beach after the market closed at 7pm to go for a nice cool swim!
